Vienna (OTS). A lot of people find it easier to learn in the evening or at night. A wide programme is already provided for them in the evenings. For “night owl” learners, the offers have been few and far between. The new programme of the education centre for health and care (Bildungszentrums für Gesundheit und Pflege) at the Simmering adult education centre (Volkshochschule Simmering) in Vienna is now seeking to address this with so-called “continuing education nights”.
The classes in the “continuing education nights” begin when the doors are being closed elsewhere. From 9.30 p.m. to 1.30 a.m., legally approved continuing education is offered in care and nursing. In the current semester, some of the subjects being offered include “psychiatry”, “dependence syndrome” and “mental handicaps”.
The goal of the “continuing education nights” is to tailor the education programme to the individual learning requirements of the course participants. Beatrix Binder, from the Simmering adult education centre, explains that many wish they could also attend continuing education classes late in the evening. Thanks to feedback from participants, special requests such as this can be specifically addressed and a diverse range of continuing education can be offered.
