The churches in Germany are in charge of adult education institutions. Ecclesiastic adult education is part of public continuing education. The institutions and their programmes are supported corresponding to the regulations in the federal state continuing education acts. The German Evangelical Association for Adult Education (Deutsche Evangelischen Arbeitsgemeinschaft für Erwachsenenbildung e.V. – DEAE), the umbrella organisation of Evangelical adult education in Germany, made a statement on the current situation of adult education.
