Maria Gauci   | 23.10.2008 | National Affairs - News items [en]
Malta: Computer Literacy is now being considered as one of the basic skills required by those in employment and others intending to return to work. The Employment and Training Corporation (ETC)in Malta has embarked on a national Information Technology (IT) campaign and offered a 7 hour programme free of charge. Eventually, the ETC entered into an agreement with Microsoft and replaced the basic IT Programme with the Microsoft Digital literacy programme. During the last operational year this training programme was also delivered on one of the local TV stations. ETC, in collaboration with the support of the Ministry of Information Technology and Investment in Malta set up a Community Technology Learning Centre through which it organizes a vast number of training programmes in basic IT and in the use of new technologies.
