Carlos Ribeiro   | 06.11.2009 | National Affairs - News items [en]
We are pleased to announce the publication of a photographic and documentary work portraying 70 life histories highlighting an initiative of the ANQ (Agência Nacional para a Qualificação - National Qualifications Agency), which coordinates national adult education and training policies in Portugal The book “highlights and ennobles the value of the lives of retired persons over the course of time, in the most widely varied of contexts”. As indicated in the presentation text, “the publication features the various testimonies of adult trainees participating in the New Opportunities Initiative, describing their existence and experiences, as well as the manner in which the acquisition and development of knowledge and skills has enriched their lives over the course of a lifetime”. In researching the book “One Million New Opportunities”, the authors contacted New Opportunities Centres and public and private training bodies and were provided with more than 400 trainee contacts, whose testimonies and new opportunities are compiled in the book. What all these trainees have in common is a sense of satisfaction at having chosen a pathway leading to formal qualifications in adult life.
